About Us
35mm-the KU movie club proudly is the only independent film
appreciation movement of Khulna University, the first nonpolitical
public university of Bangladesh.
Founded: 12th September of 2006
Philosophy: 35mm, strives to develop the sensibility and
morality of people in general through movies without any
barriers of language, culture and ethnicity and deals to
upgrade the movie taste of the social masses.
It was founded with a goal to develop human perspective
through the philosophy of movies and to create a cultural
consciousness around the campus.
IT HAS BEEN ABOUT 14 YEARS SINCE "35MM- THE KU MOVIE CLUB" ITS JOURNEY AT KHULNA UNIVERSITY AS A FILM APPRECIATION MOVEMENT. WE STRIVE TO DEVELOP THE SENSIBILITY AND MORALITY OF PEOPLE IN GENERAL THROUGH MOVIES WITHOUT ANY BARRIERS OF LANGUAGE, CULTURE AND ETHNICITY. IT WAS FOUNDED WITH A GOAL TO DEVELOP HUMAN PERSPECTIVE THROUGH THE PHILOSOPHY OF MOVIES AND TO CREATE A CULTURAL CONSCIOUSNESS AROUND THE CAMPUS AND THE SOCIAL MASSES.
Activities
35mm deals with a variety of events regarding films from every genre and without any barriers of language, culture and ethnicity. Some of the main activities of the club are given below
Weekly Film Screening (Chobibar)
Every Thursday a film is
screened at the campus.
Cine-Adda
It’s a regular hangout session with a purpose to
study the philosophy of a film or a genre.
Campus Premier
We promote and screen newly released
independent films at our campus with the association of
the filmproduction crew.
Workshops
Cinematography, film-making and short –film
workshops are faciliated by many famous professional
personnel.
Film Festival
To present a new edge of the society,
different kinds of Film Festivals are arranged at the
University Campus.
Competitions
Many competitions were also initiated
through the time i.e. Short Film Competitions, Script
writing and film review contests and movie trivia Contests.
Quarantine Activities
Hosting podcast: “The KHUBI Movie
Show”, initiating online film appreciation sessions and
publishing cine-Mag, “Chitrolekha”.
